Snow Plow.Special Assessment

A special assessment of $100 per unit has been levied in order to finance the extraordinary snow removal and related weather damage costs of the 2010 winter.

This became necessary when the regular budget for snow removal, plus some $40,000 previously set aside in a snow reserve fund, were inadequate to pay the bills for repeated removal of heavy snows and repairs needed because  of weather damage. The Board of Trustees carefully evaluated all options, and the assessment was necessary in order to maintain the financial stability of your association.

Plowing. To allow owners time, payment was announced in late March, to be billed on the July bills and payable at that time. Special assessments are not the norm in Society Hill, and this was simply a result of the erratic weather patterns that have hammered the area with snows, not to mention periodic heavy rainfalls.

As was observed in the official notice to unit owners, Society Hill's maintenance fees continue to be among the lowest in the area.
