Winter Maintenance Projects
While outdoor work slows down in the colder months, the Association typically tackles special tasks, such at these.
Pavement Repair. Sunken or slanted pavement slabs are adjusted for safety. Rather than incurring the cost of breaking up the old concrete and laying new, this approach involves drilling several holes through the existing pavement.
Then, a mud slurry is injected under pressure, gradually lifting the slab to the desired level. This requires great care to avoid cracking it, and as seen in the top picture, adjacent slabs may have to be separated.
In some cases, minor "bumps" are ground down.
Work has been performed on Society Way, Gordon Avenue, and several courts.
Tree removal and pruning. Dead trees are removed as part of our program to maintain an attractive landscape, along with clearing tree canopies around the buildings and roof lines. This work is performed as needed, within available resources.
Our vibrant pear trees provide beauty for all to enjoy, especially when in bloom. In an effort to preserve the pear trees, a pruning program has been undertaken. Reducing the weight by thinning and raising branch levels decreases the stress on their fragile canopies. No new pear trees will be planted, to avoid future problems.
The Association is able to secure better rates for completing this work during the winter months.
